Luke Bridgford spent years in the corporate world before stepping away to pursue something more meaningful. An Australian actor and entrepreneur who made Japan home, he eventually found himself worn down by the corporate grind. It was through Japan’s mountains, coastlines, deeply fascinating history and people that he rediscovered his love again for Japan — and with it, a new sense of freedom, clarity and personal growth.
What began as modifying his own 4×4 desperately seeking mindful escapes to then evolve into something much greater: creating a way for others to experience themselves, in Japan, beyond the cities, beyond the tour plan, and to break their routine.
Overland Campers Japan was born not as a traditional camper rental company, but as an experience-led overland adventure business based in Tokyo.
We design and prepare fully equipped 4×4 campers as companions for immersion — enabling travellers to explore Japan’s alpine passes, remote coastlines, snow-covered mountains and into a vast depth of culture with confidence.
