\nCamp right on Lake Motosuko for stunning views of Mt Fuji.<\/span> This campground attracts camping enthusiasts so <\/span>people can be a little sensitive about noise, especially <\/span>late at night. Be sure to catch the spectacular sunrise<\/span>!<\/p>\n

\nExpansive <\/span>open grasslands <\/span>with sweeping views of Mt Fuji.\u00a0 A great place to potentially mingle with other campers and share a drink. We particularly suggest <\/span>the fields <\/span>closest to Mt F<\/span>uji for the best uninterrupted <\/span>views.
\nAlternatively, check <\/span>out the nearby Asagiri Jamboree Auto Camping Ground for <\/span>a similar vibe.<\/p>\n

Newly opened in 2025, a high-standard campsite tucked into the hills above K\u014dfu with unforgettable sunsets and Mt. Fuji views that peak in the distance, perfect for those who want intimacy and scenery combined. For us the highlight are the open mixed and private hot baths with sweeping panorama views. We like camping spots #5, #6, #7 (our favorite) and #8.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nA very friendly husband and wife operated campground offering a tranquil relaxing place of mysticism.\u00a0 The camping environment choice is yours by choosing between a river (you can swim) or a tranquil forrest setting.\u00a0 Our favorite sites are B-4, B-5 or A-1, A-2.\u00a0 Clean bathrooms, coin hot showers and Wifi at reception.\u00a0 Many sites also have AC power available.\u00a0 Although you can not see Mt. Fuji, just a short walk is the beautiful Lake Tanuki.

\nA smaller, little known <\/span>and more private campground.\u00a0Elevated, beautiful views over Lake Kawaguchi<\/span> to Mt F<\/span>uji.\u00a0It may be a <\/span>little more expensive, but it has <\/span>very nice facilities and service.<\/p>\n

\nNestled high into the hills, this is very popular campground that looks over the city below and offers <\/span>glimpses of Mt F<\/span>uji in the distance<\/span>.\u00a0Not <\/span>to be missed here is the amazing public onsen<\/i> hot spring<\/span>, a short walk across from the campsite offering sweeping cliffside <\/span>views.
\nOne of the most popular campgrounds in the area, so you really need to book ahead or be very lucky for last minute bookings!

Lake Motosu: The northern shore near <\/span>Motosumichi Parking Lot<\/span><\/a> is <\/span>where the image on the 1000-yen <\/span>bill was taken.\u00a0Pull out your 1000-yen<\/span> bill and get that \u201creveal\u201d video.<\/p>\n

Arakurayama Sengen Park<\/span><\/a>: <\/span>Imagine an elevated park accessible by stairs leading to the <\/span>cherry blossoms in spring<\/span>, a pagoda and <\/span>dramatic views of Mt <\/span>Fuji for that extra \u201conly in Japan<\/span>\u201d memory.

\n<\/span>Saiko Nenba-hama<\/span><\/a>: <\/span>Mt <\/span>Fuji Picnic Spot,<\/span> a good little spot to take a break and take a photo with your overlander with Mt <\/span>Fuji in the background.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other notable spots: There are literally hundreds of viewing spots and that’s part of the experience – finding your own unique viewpoint.\u00a0 But our favorites are on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi – <\/span>Oishi Park<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0 <\/span>Panorama Dai<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Yuyake no Nagisa Park, <\/span><\/a>especially in autumn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba <\/a><\/span>is a former farming village turned open-air museum, situated not far from the shores of Lake Saiko, one <\/span>of the Fuji Five Lakes. Its quaint countryside setting provides an ideal photo op, with the towering Mt Fuji acting as a backdrop to charming traditional thatched houses.<\/p>\n

Oshino Hakkai <\/a><\/span>is a small, touristy village northeast of Mt <\/span>Fuji between Lake Kawaguchi <\/span>and Lake Yamanaka<\/span>. Enjoy <\/span>views of the iconic <\/span>mountain together with the thatched roofs.<\/span><\/p>\n

From near Lake Kawaguchi, take the Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway to an observation point near Mt Tenjo\u2019s summit. Ride the giant swings at the Mt Tenjo observation deck <\/span><\/a>and feel like you\u2019re flying towards Japan\u2019s national <\/span>treasure.
\n<\/span>Note, the swings are only <\/span>open 10a<\/span>m\u201311am and 1p<\/span>m\u20132pm daily. There\u2019s <\/span>extra sessions on weekdays (<\/span>2:30pm\u20133pm), and weekends and holidays (<\/span>2:30pm\u20134pm). <\/span>You\u2019ll need to <\/span>purchase a ticket (500 <\/span>yen per person) at the adjacent Tanuki Tea House.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shiraito Falls, <\/a>which<\/span> is found on the southwestern side of Mt <\/span>Fuji in a national park, is a 150-meter-wide <\/span>cascade fed <\/span>by the volcano\u2019s spring water and flows off the edge of a 20-meter-high <\/span>cliff. Favourite Onsens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Yurari <\/span><\/a>is a day-use public onsen<\/i> hot spring <\/span>complex near Lake Kawaguchi. Day use<\/span> is 1,300 yen including rental towels. (10am\u201310pm<\/span>)
\n<\/span>Private baths with views of the mountain are also available (60 minutes, 2,000 yen).<\/p>\n

Hottarakashi Onsen <\/a>is a day use public open-air onsen <\/em>facility high up in the mountains north of Kofu city. Just a short walk from the Hottakarashi Camping Field, not to be missed is the sunrise session. Day use is 1,000 yen including towels. (4:30am\u201310pm)<\/span><\/p>\n

Mifuji-en <\/span><\/a>is a hotel located by Lake Kawaguchi an<\/span>d offers an onsen<\/i> <\/span>bath with a great panoramic view of the lake and majestic Mt F<\/span>uji. The onsen<\/i> <\/span>is also open to daytime bathers (1pm\u20138pm) for 1,200 yen including rental towels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kyukamura FUJI <\/a>is a hotel located in the corner of Lake Tanuki and offers an onsen<\/em> bath with an ambient view of Mt Fuji over the lake. The onsen\u00a0<\/em>is also open to daytime bathers (11am\u20131:30pm) for 1,200 yen including towels.<\/span><\/p>\n

CYCL Sauna<\/a> is a modern Finnish style sauna facility offering sweeping views of Mt. Fuji over Lake Yamanaka.\u00a0 The cosy environment has a unisex sauna room and separated cold plunge bath facilities.\u00a0 Bathing suits are required (rental available). Soba Ikkanjin \u305d\u3070\u306e\u5b9f<\/span> \u4e00\u9591\u4eba<\/span><\/a> is a hidden Soba restaurant found near Kyukamura Fuji onsen<\/em>. Try their chewy buckwheat soba noodles in the salt broth. Get there early and expect to wait during busy periods. Gohei Chaya<\/a> is a modest & friendly Japanese restaurant that is a popular pit stop lunch for locals on the go.\u00a0 Our favorite is the Fujiyama mix Yakisoba and Fried Rice set.\u00a0 Maybe follow it up with an ice-cream from the nearby Fuji Milk Land.<\/p>\n

Sugeez west-lake \u897f\u6e56\u5e97<\/span><\/a> is a homestyle burger restaurant offering peaceful nature views and an outside terrace. A good variety of uniquely named burgers and sides to indulge in.\u00a0 <\/span>Open for lunch (11am\u20134pm)<\/p>\n
